Week 9, Thing 23
What an interesting 23 Things project. I enjoyed learning a lot of the things, but I unfortunately found the overall experience to be more of a chore than a fun thing to do. I do understand how someone could get very involved with blogging, "flickr"ing, creating avatars, and sharing with wikis. Once you get started it's easy to see how an hour or two can disappear(in my case an hour or two was just enough time for me to understand what was expected of me). Maybe I'm just better communicating with people face to face. There is something almost sad about the way so many people spend so much time on their computers it seems fresh air and human contact are becoming obsolete. I do hope to pass some of the useful tools I have learned on to customers and also friends and family. GoogleDocs in particular. What a wonderful tool for everyone and it is definitely something that I am looking forward to sharing! I have to mention that if not for my phenomenal co-workers I would never have been able to finish this project. Especially Desi, who was my personal cheerleader during crunch time...what a peach!! My suggestion for future projects of this kind is to give "choice" options. If we were given our choice of 10 or so of the 23 things, I think it would have been more fun choosing and also more fun sharing our choices with others. This experience has provided us with plenty of laughter and sometimes much frustration. But I am proud of myself for finishing! YAY ME!!!

Week 9, Thing 22
Downloadable Books!
Although I am firmly in favor of books being read in book form...I do see how this would be a valuable asset for many people. Travelers, commuters and people who love to multi-task. I know that this is something that I won't ever make use of. I love to read too much!

Week 9, Thing 21
I added the RSS feed Swashbuckler Epiphany. If you're interested in comedy, like I am, check it out. It's good for a swashbuckling chuckle:)
Week 9, Thing 20
I explored YouTube a little and didn't really know what I wanted to look at. I did find the funniest video about Butterball turkeys after typing in Thanksgiving. I would need a lot more time to play in order to enjoy the joy that is YouTube!!
Week 8, Thing 19
I went to the Web 2.0 awards site in search of games. I found that I really liked Guess-the-Google. It is a very quick-paced game that doesn't require a lot of time, and it's fun. I tried to attach it as an element to by blog but didn't have much luck. I can't imagine any good reason to need this for work, but maybe as a pick-me-up during a break.

Week 8, Thing 18
YAY! I just explored Google Docs. What a great way to keep up with work anywhere. Creating my account couldn't have been easier and playing around with a new document was fun. I just know that after I have my Excel training I will be doing Google Docs spreadsheets, too! This is something that I know I will be sharing with patrons!
Week 7, Thing 16
I enjoyed checking out wikis. There was a little too much for me to investigate (my time is running short), however, I got a big chuckle out of the definition of a librarian through the bull run library wiki. I'll go back and check out more when I have more time to spend. I would be interested in participating in a community wiki where good service or even poor service could be shared. There is nothing like word of mouth (or word of wiki) to get community news spreading!
